Outdoor Pursuits & Beach Life

If you love adventure sports, or fancy giving them a try, Pembrokeshire is not going to disappoint. The birthplace of coasteering, there are lots of great locations for climbing, jumping and swimming on our stunning coastline. When the waves are good, Pembrokeshire is a surfer’s dream. No surf? No problem! Head off on a kayak adventure or try your hand at stand-up paddle boarding (SUP). All the equipment you need is available to hire - Haven Sports in Broad Haven, or Newsurf at Newgale are your closest options.

We have some incredible beaches here in Pembrokeshire, from the traditional seaside towns of Tenby, Saundersfoot and Broad Haven to the more wild backdrops of Marloes and Abereddi.

Walking & Wildlife

Access to the Pembrokeshire coast path is just five minutes walk away from Whitegates campsite. Little Haven is a brilliant starting point for exploring the Marloes peninsula and the St Brides Bay area of the path. There is lots to see in every season, from native wildflowers to coastal ruins to wild Welsh ponies; and of course there are breathtaking views to behold year round. It’s the perfect place to blow off the cobwebs and fill your lungs with salty sea air. The National Trust and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park websites are a great starting point for circular walks to enjoy nearby.

Also within 8 miles of our campsite is the boarding point for ferries to Skomer and Skokholm islands. Within easy reach of the mainland, these islands are a sanctuary for wildlife and nature. Visit in Spring to see nesting seabirds, including puffins, kittiwakes and guillemots, in Summer for a chance to see dolphins and porpoises, as well as a carpet of bluebells and red campion, or in Autumn to see the seal pups and Manx Shearwaters. Book an overnight stay to extend your adventure. Details on trips can be found at the Welsh Wildlife Trust.
